Each and everyone of them brings something special through their varied life experiences, acquired skills and love of nature.

This close-knit team work tirelessly behind the scenes to prepare your beautiful meals, brought together by their hospitality experience, a love of wholefoods, and of the South Coast where they all reside.

Receiving your lovingly prepared platters or bowls of wholesome goodness, you’ll feel the passion which has been poured into every last mouthful.

Karina Shepherd

Karina is a mum of three. Inspired by her love for creating in the kitchen and a desire for an organic, natural and wholefood lifestyle, Karina’s previous corporate career took somewhat of a detour. Time spent volunteering in a local food co-operative piqued her interest in understanding more about the provenance of food and Karina found herself cooking and eating with the seasons. She began working part-time at nearby Buena Vista Farm and for a local wedding catering business. As well as attending wholefood cooking classes and using this knowledge to experiment in her home kitchen, Karina’s knowledge began to flourish. It was at this time that Dandelion & Mallow was born out of a love of simple, delicious food made from scratch. Using locally grown, seasonal produce, Karina has established a reputation for her delicious and nourishing food. Each business decision is meticulously considered, ensuring direct alignment with nature and the principles of sustainability. When she does step out of the kitchen, Karina enjoys spending time with her family, reading books about wellness and permaculture, pottering in the kitchen garden, swims and stand-up paddle boarding in the nearby ocean and walks in the bush, or with the family dog.

Vanessa Moran

Vanessa is a mother of four and lives on a gorgeous acre in Gerringong. A passionate veggie gardener, Vanessa grows much of the family’s own food, including herbs, fruit and veg, eggs, chicken and lamb. She works behind the scenes in their family-owned Gerringong Surf School and with us, preparing food in the Dandelion & Mallow kitchen and providing on-site service to our customers. When she finds a spare minute, Vanessa delights in eating yummy food with her family, swimming at the beach and doing Pilates.
